I have loved my mission. It has been the hardest thing that I have ever done in my life... but its been the best time ever as well. I am very grateful for all of the love and support that all of you have given me while I have been here serving the Lord in la Misión México Guadalajara Este. It's been a blast. My faith has been strengthened after feeling useless sometimes. I have questioned why do things not go the way I want them to if I really am trying to do my best but I now understand that it doesn't really matter what I think I want. What matters is what God wants for me and in turn I have figured out that what God wants for me is also what I want. It's a win-win situation :)
I feel like it has been a short 2 years in a long sort of way... To be honest, it feels like it's been two years and I have loved my time here in the mission. I have learned a lot but what I have learned here has just prepared me to edify his kingdom back at home. After watching General Conference this last week I feel that I have been given great advice and I am excited for the next step in my life. I love the mission but it does feel like it's time. No I have not had a "perfect" mission and neither have I been the "perfect" missionary. But I am certain that I have done my best. Before the mission I didn't understand what that meant but I have come to know my Savior and understand the role that His atonement plays in my life. I have tried my hardest to let others know the same. I love you all. I love this work and am excited to continue to be a disciple of Christ... even if that means without a badge. Keep staying strong, rely on the merits of Christ, and always remember that God has a plan for you.
Mom, I love you. Thank you so much for everything that you have taught me. I am excited to see you and I hope that everyone understands that the first hug on Monday will be given to you. You are amazing and I love you so much. Thanks for your example that you have shown me my whole life. While here in the mission I want you to know that I have remembered "who I am and what I stand for."
See you next week.
Love,
Elder Summers
